I have to emphasize that the photos on the site don't do the pieces justice. I think they're awesome!  They're affordable, durable, nicely shaped, really heavy and well balanced, well proportioned, well shaped, and well finished too. I have owned and played a number of sets, this one's the best by far._x000D_

My favorite plastic Chess set December 11, 2009

This is my favorite plastic chess set.  The pieces are weighted nicely (I got mine in 08 and it weighs more that the listed 2lb 12 oz). The felt paper on the bottom is not as nice as real felt and wont hold up well but is easily replaced with real felt in the future._x000D_
The plastic is not high gloss which makes the pieces easier to look at for long periods of time.  it also avoids the cheap look that

A great Plastic set August 29, 2008

I love the look and feel of these pieces.  They have casting lines on them but that is to be expected on a plastic set.  The pieces are well balanced and the dull finish makes it easy to focus on them for quite some time.  
The only reason that I give them four instead of five stars is that the weights arent seated very well in the bottom of the pieces which makes some of them, my black king inparticular, sit a little uneven.  It isnt to noticable and it doesent make the pieces unstable it wuld just be nice if they got the weight the whole way upinto the piece.

Weighted and felted August 29, 2007

Just thought I'd make it clear that these pieces are felted.  The black pieces are shipped together in one ziplock bag, and the white pieces are shipped in another.  When I received the set, one of the black queens had lost its felt pad, but I found it in the black piece's bag and reattached it with contact cement.

The pieces appear to be solid plastic with a cylindrical cavity in the bottom to accept a tight-fitting metal weight.  Normally, this is covered by the felt pad.

There are a minimum of plastic casting artifacts; barely noticeable spues and mold lines.
