About this product

Depicting the rivalry between the oldest defenders of the US, this theme chess set displays in great fashion the rich traditions of the American armed forces! The chess set even sports actual uniforms and seals of the current military forces! Originating less than 350 years ago, the American forces have quickly climbed their way to the top of the elite military around the globe. As a tribute to the men and women in the different branches of the military, and military worldwide, this theme chess set brings the US military to your living room in stunning fashion!

The Army chessmen pieces in their stances and uniforms are a tough sight to beat! With the front ranks of the chess set composed of combat ready soldiers carrying their favorite weapon and at attention, having them in opposition could be enough to make the enemy faint! Or in this case, the enemy chess set king waver and tip over ingloriously.

That being the goal of the Army, yet without such an easy victory anticipated, they are prepared to work hard for it: providing back-up to the infantry. The 'knights' of the army, in the form of artillery, are posted and waiting to attack from afar and cause lighting quick disaster in the ranks of the opposition. The bishops, crisp looking officers with red berets, await orders to set the troops on the move, and flank the 'king' and 'queen'. The king and queen of this chess set of pieces, the commanding officer with his trademark hat, and the lady at his side, proudly represent the best of the Army. The rooks bear the insignia of the Army; the seal of the land branch of the US military.

The Navy chessmen, with navy blue uniforms and distinctive sailor's hats for the 'pawns'(who appear to be seamen of ordinary class), stand stiff and straight as arrows. The ranks of seamen in front are ready to give their best effort, to defend their country and ship from anything! With some wise moves, a little trip underwater by the submarine, the Navy should be ready to capture the king from the other chess set of pieces!

Dressed in characteristic dress uniform of the seaman, with the neat white scarf around the neck and white cap, the pawns all have a refreshing look about them! From the tip of the cap, to the end of the shoes, not a thread is out of place for the inspection of their commander! A brief look at the rooks show that they bear the seal of the Navy--which includes a majestic eagle with outstretched wings in the center. Next to the rooks, and the silent weapon of the Navy is the submarine just breaking water at the surface of the ocean; capable of carrying over a hundred men and even nuclear armaments, the submarine can be a fearful and effective weapon indeed! The bishops represent naval divers, all geared up in underwater suits and helmets--prepared for any mission, from infiltration of an enemy base underwater, to repairing the damaged hull, these men are the embodiment of 'intrepid'! And, the commanding officer, looking very much the Captain, with the lady naval officer at his side, prepares to guide his men through all obstacles for the objective: can he successfully capture the king?

Test your skills with this great theme chess set! Take the side of the Army or Navy, and see if you can end the rivalry and prove once and for all who is actually better! Every game will be fun and refreshing with crisp pieces and great colors!

Tournament Director/Tri-County Chess Club February 28, 2007
Reviewer: Daniel Lines from Brockport, PA United States
As a veteran of over 25 years of playing
USCF tournaments.  We recently held a
tournament at the Army & Navy Club of
Brockport, Pennsylvania.  One of our
members brought an ARMY/NAVY military
chess set to our tournament.  Needless
to say it was a big hit!  It took the guys
a little while to figure out what pieces
were what, but I expect some of our
Air Force vets to get their own special
set in the near future.

       "Thanks for making my day!"
