It's manufactured with the same, all weather, durable plastic. The checkers are sized perfectly for any hard surface or foldup mat. We recommend the 9' square ChessHouse nylon mat (see accessories) If you already own the giant chess and mat, you can just add giant checkers! Don't worry though, any mat with 12" to 16" squares will work great. In fact you can lay your own playing surface of tile, concrete, or any other material for great results.
