About this product

The designers have drawn on the rich history of the game to suggest individuals and places that have played an important part in the refinement of golf from what was a medieval peasants' pastime to the game we know and love today. Golf's growing popularity really stems from the inauguration of the Open Championship in 1860 and it is from this era to the early 1900s that the designers have chosen to represent the true beginnings of the sport.  They have chosen Harry Vardon as King, Lady Margaret Scott as the Queen and Old Tom Morris as the Bishop.

Beautifully hand decorated, this chess set is a delight to own and makes a remarkable presentation piece.

Specifications:
  • Chess set pieces only, board not included.
  • King height:  5"
  • Board recommendation: 2-2 1/8" squares (see below for options)
