The all-weather design and snap-together, mesh chessboard will stand abuse. The pieces are relatively light weight and cannot be weighted in the same fashion as giant 25" chess. One could spend the time to drill and weight the sets if desired. Anything stronger than mild winds will probably blow the pieces over. Yet the pieces are very firm and unbreakable.

Great set for kids January 25, 2007

I bought this set as a patio/garden set. My visiting nieces and nephews just loved it. We did have one piece break in half when it was dropped on the patio but it was easily glued back together and it has been just fine. Everyone had a blast playing with it. It was lighter and more portable than we expected and that is great as the kids can take it out and put it away without needing to call for help. The pieces are weighty enough to hold thier own even in a breeze.
