About the authors: Grandmaster Alexander Beliavsky, former World Junior and Soviet Champion, has been among the world's chess elite for nearly 20 years. He was also Garry Kasparov's coach during the 1993 World Championship match against Nigel Short. Adrian Mikhalchishin, also a grandmaster, is a renowned Ukrainian chess trainer, theoretician and writer. A former Soviet Championship contender, he now spends much of his time in Slovenia and plays in European tournaments.
