Although the actual product I received is a bit different from the photo advertisement (the color of the chess box is not gold, but like the classic Oriental folding set), the details that went into the carving of the stone pieces are just amazing. However, I would like to point out a few minor negatives. First of all, considering that the product is made in Taiwan, you can't exactly expect top-notch quality. 1. The inlays are made of plastic, not wood as I expected, and they're not exactly perfectly aligned either. 2. Although the frame of the box is made of solid wood, the outer casing is more like cardboard. 3. My dark pieces seem almost perfect, but the light pieces contain slight scratches and other imperfections, the most annoying of all being that the base of EVERY light piece is tarnished (not as smooth as the rest of the figure). Good thing is you can't see it unless you're looking for it, and the felt bottom ensures they can slide across the board without too much trouble.
