Depicting the higher ranks of Japanese culture, this Oriental themed chess set has the look and feel of age carved into it! The pawns are representative of the eight wise men regarded by the Oriental cultures, and give the set an air of wisdom far beyond a normal chess set! Set in the time of Medieval Japan, the ranking members of society are standing at mute attention, awaiting the beginning of the ultimate duel--a mental war and a physical defeat of the army!

The king or shogun, the queen, and the royal advisers are resplendent in robes and ceremonial dress. Providing protection for them are the horsemen and pagoda castles, a combination which is hard to beat! With the pawns so wise, the soldiers so brave, the royalty so fine, who can the winner be?

Identical to the Oriental Color chess set with a natural finish, but with brilliant colors, this beautiful set could come from Japan itself! The elegant and artistic coloring covers the chessboard with figures of eye-catching hues, and make the set itself a rare treat! The red ranks have deep red and yellow tones set upon them, and make a perfect contrast to the blue side: the blue's have deep and cloudy blue colorings making them striking and attractive chessmen themselves!

These finely made chess sets are made of poly-resin plastic. Each piece is hand-painted using long lasting, lead-free paint. These pieces are not recommended for children below 10 years of age since they will break if dropped or played with roughly.
