The perfect small playable gift chess set. Portable, fun and lightweight with great looking magnetic pieces, this 9" chess set is large enough to play and yet small enough to easily travel with you.

Handy square labels/coordinates (A1 B2, etc) on all 64 squares make anything involving chess notation, or replaying games - easy.

Magnetic pieces keep the pieces in place when it gets bumpy. The chessboard is protected inside a soft, zippered case with an extra section for pieces.

Great chess set. Magnets are strong enough to hold pieces in place when the board is upside down. Great feel and piece size to square ratio is roomy. Nice pieces and I'm sure I'll see many years usage from this handy set. Love the notation on the board, great for learning. Pleasure. Also need a larger set for home, will be shopping here.

Nice set for what it does December 5, 2009

This is a very good set for someone who might want to analyze a position or game or play a quick game it tight quarters. While the pieces are small, they are easily distinguishable and there should be little confusion over which piece is which. I am not sure that I would recommend this set for use while riding in a car or plane simply because the magnetic attraction holding the pieces to the board
