A full tournament-sized Chess set, the Reykjavik II Series chess set features a 3.75" King with a 1.75"diameter base. The Chess pieces are hand carved by master artisans and crafted out of ebonized boxwood. The Chess pieces are Black and Natural Lacquered and heavily weighted with luxurious billiard cloth base pads and a rich finish. The design of the Players Series Chess set has been inspired by the Jaques of London design from the late 1890s, a period widely regarded by Chess collectors as having the finest Staunton Chess Sets ever produced. The Players Series Chess set is ideal for those that are interested in a quality Chess set at a very affordable price.

As with all of our Chess sets, the Player Series Chessmen exemplifies a perfect combination of distinct beauty and functionality. It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close!

The Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, including four Queens, a standard that was introduced by The House of Staunton over 10 years ago.

Chess pieces:

Also known as faux Ebony, Ebonized Boxwood is created when Boxwood is treated with a specialized stain to create the look of Ebony. When done properly, it can be difficult to distinguish between an ebonized and ebony piece when brand new. It is perfect for those who want the classical look of a Genuine Ebony Chess set at an affordable price.

Chessboard:

The Standard Traditional Striped Ebony / Bird's Eye Maple wooden Chessboard with 2.25" Squares features Striped Ebony (dark) and Bird's Eye Maple (light) squares with a Coffeewood delimiter and a Striped Ebony frame. This Chessboard is 0.5" thick, has a satin finish and a beautiful moulded edge. Has felt pads at each corner to slightly elevate board from surface and protect from scratches.

Chessbox:
