Each square on the glass electronic chess computer has a red LED light integrated just under the surface of the board, when a piece makes its move the LED lights, light up the path its going to travel on to reach its destination, so lets say a rook is going to move from a1 to a8, a string of red LED lights will light up the pathway all the way to a8. This is very handy because you don't need to reference an LCD screen to find out where the computer wants to move.
