A beveled ridge holds the lower edge of the chess board and it simply tilts back against the wall with enough angle to be all but earthquake proof. The shelf mounting is made easy with a clever, slide out backplate. The light lacquer furniture finish can be kept dust free with a soft, dry cloth.
