Several Historical Chess Items [photos]
Howard Staunton, chess player and writer who was generally considered the strongest player in the world from 1843 to 1851, named editor of The Chess Player's Chronicle in this August 1853 edition.
Considered one of the greatest pieces of chess literature, In 1969, Simon and Schuster published Bobby Fischer's My 60 Memorable Games. Surprisingly it includes not just wins, but nine draws and three losses by the most immortalized player of all time.
Vintage Drueke Player's Choice Chessmen were put into production in the early 1960s. The design is seeing a resurgence in demand today.
