Beautiful chess set for very reasonable price

Purchased chess set for wife who is still learning and she was very pleased with the quality and finish. I have played for years and some tournaments, and find this set a very good value. Also purchased for her the beginners booklet which was also excellent, easy to follow and well written.

A little disappointed

First the good:

The board is quite nice. Service was very good and the Shipping was very fast.

Now for the pieces:

I should have read the specs closer and compared the weight to similar sized pieces in other sets. These pieces don’t feel as if they have any added weight. To be honest they felt like plastic and are not very stable on the board. And finally one the white pawns arrived broken which understand can happen anytime.

I realize this is an economical set but I expected a little more quality for the money.

Great Board

This set is excellent. Board feels heavy and pieces are nicely made.

Beginer's chess set

The chess set came quickly in the mail and was packaged securely. I clicked onto the manual to be included with it, but it never came.
Any beginner needs the starter book to accompany it. Otherwise, what use is it ?
