Great Quality Beginners Set

Bought this for our granddaughter to teach her chess and history at the same time. Nothing fancy but nicely weighted plastic. She loves it!

I really like the Spartan chess set. The pieces are well detailed with a nice weight. The board itself feels like the wood is rather thin. The letter and numbering around the edge was poorly executed. About half the letters and numbers are faded.

I placed a sheet of bubble wrap over the pieces so that they stay in place; otherwise they scramble about when the box is turned over.
The clasps are nice and the hinge is protected from opening too far.

I think it should have been offered at a discount because of the imperfections.
