This board is pretty large - probably 21"x21" when taking into account the margins on the sides. There are no coordinates on the board which is great and much more aesthetically appealing. The board folds in half and gently locks in place. I was really impressed with the quality - the wood is so smooth and each half of the board is flush when expanded fully on a flat surface. Please keep in mind that the foam inserts that are glued inside the board are cut to hold traditional Staunton pieces - therefore, if you have Russian or nontraditional pieces (specifically the knights), the foam will obviously not conform to the pieces, but they can still fit snugly inside. We use this board with Russian pieces and the knights fit fine. This board is great if you don't want to keep a flat 20" board out and about all the time.
