Slight corner damage, otherwise great board.
Deal items are products that may be new, slightly used, or in some way not suitable as a regular price product. Products may become deal items for any reason, box damage, not regular stock, imperfect, or slight damage. Sometimes new products arrive with small small scratches or dents that disqualify as new during quality control checks at the warehouse. Defects may at times be hardly noticeable and at other times quite obvious but a reasonable effort is made to portray accurately.Original Item Description:
Also rare in most wood chessboards, you have chess notation coordinates along all four sides. This is helpful especially if you want to equip your class or club with wooden chess boards instead of vinyl chessboards. Or you might just like the look and feel for use in your own home.
This board is made in Europe with a quality veneer finish. Match with it almost any set of wooden chess pieces. While you could use plastic pieces on this board, it's ideal for average to nice wooden chess pieces.
- Board size: 21.6" x 21.6" x .50"
- Square size: 2 1/4"
Expected damaged corner and sure enough the box had damage. Board however emerged unscathed. This board is not a bedazzler but it looks good and is not warped, certainly an excellent value. Goes well with cheap Polish set and also with my more expensive hand carved Indian set. Also works as an analysis set with a cheap plastic set on a TV tray. I don't demand great beauty but do require practicality and this board has what I need at a very good price.
My second board from the clearance department. The first was a walnut ( dark squares) one with 2" squares with very minor damage to one corner. Excellent product but I gave it and a set of chess pieces away as a present. This time I ordered the Mahogany board with 2.25" squares(dark squares and surrounding border). I prefer the larger squares and magohany over the walnut. The mahogany board is just "richer" looking to my eyes . The imperfection is very minor scratch mark on the board and is difficult to see unless you are looking for it.
