Detailed rosewood chess pieces in a rosewood and maple folding chessboard are finely crafted and finished for a well-balanced chess set in color and overall appearance.

Interior felted storage secures each piece for protection while two clasps keep the folding box shut. The closed box then slips inside a fitted leatherette case with snaps.

nice board and set

The board is very nice and can be used with any set of pieces with a 3'' King. The magnetic pieces that come with the set are good quality and have reasonably strong magnets which make it feel like they are double weighted when playing. I use this set for replaying games and playing friends. I wouldn't use this for blitz b/c: a. it's too nice for blitz b. I don't think you can fling the pieces around easily as can you can with a triple- or quad-weighted plastic set.

Best Crafted Among Magnetic Sets

This is an excellent travel set that is well crafted and very pretty to look at, for a magnetic set.

The only thing I would like to have seen improved is the felt at the bottom of the pieces, it is too thin and not very fussy. Sometimes you can hear the wood-on-wood rub when moving the pieces. Also, the enclosure clasps seem a bit cheap and will need to be handled with care.
