The 3" Crusade pieces are extra heavy - more than 7 lbs. for such a compact set! Try and find a heavy & balanced Staunton set with a 4.5" king with 34 pieces equal to this weight. It is nearly 2 lbs. heavier than its larger polyresin 7" brother - S2126GL. Pieces have a low center of gravity and feel so stable. I love the kings astride their mounts (horse & camel); all knights are astride rearing horses - the horses of the crusaders are draped; bishops are substituted by warriors. All these warriors and knights are individualized or non-identical whether Knights Templar or Saracen. The crusaders have crosses on their tunics or shields.
This is a set which should be displayed with very limited use for play. These pieces could never withstand rigorous use. There are small details such as swords and spears which may break if dropped or mishandled. Some imperfections such as bowed swords or spears can occur in the casting process. This is a fine conversational collectors set .
