Excellent Movie May 1, 2006

This was a great movie. My 6 year old who loves chess was fascinated by it, my wife who knows little about chess thought it was a good documentary and my 8 year old loved the graphics. I was quite entertained by it.

This DVD is simply awesome!   It's very interesting to realize that this prodigy is just like any other kids except for his devotion to the game of chess which distinguished him from everybody!

A bit disappointed May 1, 2006
Reviewer: Tim N. from San Diego, CA United States
This was an interesting movie, but it was pretty short and I was dissappointed that it didn't cover his matches to become a grandmaster.  It talks about how he needs to win 3 matches and then shows 2 minutes of people watching him play.  Next thing you know he's GM Magnus Carlson.  I wanted to see more of his training, more of how he thinks during a chess match.  I felt it was just a long interview.  This movie may have been a couple years early because I think the real story of his greatness will begin over the next few years when he starts to win major tournaments all over the world.

My son enjoyed this DVD very much and was excited to share it with his chess teacher.  I've refered it to some of the parents on his chess team.
