Hi Benjamin, Yes, that is correct. The amount of 'think' time is correlated to the playing strength of the computer; so, the only way to increase the playing strength without increasing the time is to upgrade to a more powerful chess computer that can do the calculations faster. Most chess computers also operate on 'opening libraries', which allows them to make quick moves in the Opening portion of the game because they are pulling from a known pattern where the best moves have already been calculated. Some chess computers have more extensive opening libraries than others.
