These pieces have a base size of .62". A good square size to fit them would be at most 1", or slightly less. However, if you have a board with 1.5" squares, then you'll want a piece that has a base of 1 1/8" or thereabouts, usually a 3" or 3.25" king. This travel chess is designed for quality and enjoyable play.
