The board requires special pieces that have components in them that help the board identify the piece, so it requires DGT pieces to correctly function. You can use this board to translate moves to the computer using Fritz without buying any other special accessories. I haven't researched whether it will still interface with Winboard, but I know it did in the past. This travel chess is designed for quality and enjoyable play.
