How well does this case hold larger chess pieces, particularly 4 1/2" Kings with a 2" base and 3 1/4" tall Knights?
That are 2 1/4" wide at the head?

Robert, the box is quite roomy and will carry pretty big pieces. Without having the pieces and trying them out in the box I can't say with 100% certainty that they will fit though. When they are back in stock feel free to purchase one and if it doesn't fit well we will be happy to take it back. This travel chess is designed for quality and enjoyable play.
