Hi Lloyd,
The Square Off Pro is still a new product and we haven't completely formed an opinion yet. It's not uncommon for 1st Gen products to go through tweaking to 'get things right'.
We have heard that it does require pieces to be more 'centered' for the board to accurate read them and knocking over several pieces can cause the computer to be confused (though this CAN be corrected to get the game back on track).
Overall though, with its portability, move detection, LED lights, mature app and reasonable price, it does offer a lot. This magnetic board is designed for quality and enjoyable play.
