James, it is the pieces that are different.

These are the Basic Regulation pieces https://www.chesshouse.com/products/3... they are not completely hollow but they do have a small hollow core.

These are the Quality Regulation pieces https://www.chesshouse.com/products/3... they are completely filled/solid. This travel chess is designed for quality and enjoyable play.
