What is the board which comes with the 20" Large King's Inlaid Chess Set made of?
Please also provide details about the squares. Also, when the board is closed does it become a storage box for the chess pieces? Please advise. Thank you.

Samuel, thanks for checking in, the board is made of beechwood. The squares are stained beechwood and measure at 2.125". Yes, when closed the board is storage for the pieces. This wooden chess set is designed for quality and enjoyable play.
