How are the chess pieces stored?

The pieces are individually held in lightweight formed compartments inside the folding wooden chess set, which is held shut with two brass colored clasps. This storage method protects the pieces from damage during shipment, making it easy to keep the set organized and immediately see that all pieces are present when putting it away. The inside compartment is not of a high quality material, but is instead a think plastic with green felt covering. It can easily crack or scuff if not handled with care. However some people remove the green interior altogether. It is a matter of preference and it is not essential to keep it in.
