Answer Question
What in a situation where a player moves a piece to a legal square but keeps their hand on it and changes the move
Sometimes players hesitate during a move and momentarily place a piece on a square while still keeping a hand on it. Even grandmasters do this: they test a square, keep their hand on the piece, and may then return it to the original square or move it to a different legal square. The move is only considered complete once the player releases the piece.
