This would be perfect for him. My 6 year old daughter loves this one. We put 8 to just play it safe. But a 6 year old who is playing and smart with chess will do great in my opinion.
My 6-year-old grandson is in chess club at his school.
For his age he is doing quite well and even beat the 2nd grade undefeated champ. I want to continue to encourage his enthusiasm for the game. Is this computer set up and competition too advanced for his age? I know the box says "8 and up"� but I want to make sure he's not getting over his head and becomes frustrated or discouraged. Any comments or recommendations are appreciated. This magnetic board is designed for quality and enjoyable play.

Answer: Both computers will allow you to setup and play from a position as well as give move suggestions (though the hints are calculated quickly and not necessarily the best or strongest move possible). The centaur has a number of deluxe features (like 2" squares and LED lights indicating the computer's move, move detection), and has a stronger playing engine than the Pro, but lacks the configuration options that the Pro has.
If you wanted a computer that is closer in comparison to the Centaur, I would suggest evaluating the King Competition. It has LEDs in the squares, a larger playing surface and has more coniguration options with both automatic and manual level adjustment. This travel chess is designed for quality and enjoyable play. -

Answer: Genius 2024 is not compatible with any other devices. It is a standalone computer. If you're looking for a eboard that connects to your phone to play apps or play online, then the eONE is the similar size board with the primary aim to enable connected play via a phone or tablet.
