Convenient padded chess board bag with handles fits chess boards up to 18" square and holds chess pieces in storage compartment. This enables you to much more easily transport your wooden chess set while keeping it scratch free.
The two expanding piece storage pockets are designed for your pieces.
An additional flat zippered pocket adds some options for carrying smaller thin items.
- 2 front piece pockets
- 19 1/2" square bag fits boards up to 18" square and 1/2" thickness
This is the right size bad for the 17 inch chess board that I got through Chesshouse. This bag is a requirement to protect the chessboard for storage and transport. There are two pockets to hold the chess pieces, but I use a Chesshouse's drawstring bag to hold the loose pieces for extra protection especially for my wooden pieces. Finally, I use a separate chess bag for my chess clock to provide better protection.
I have two tournament sized wood boards that are right for this bag. One is 17 ? inches square, the other is exactly 18 inches. They both fit, but there is no room left over when I use the 18 inch one. My favorite standard sized wood tournament set with extra queens fits easily in the two padded compartments for pieces, I would think that most sets that aren't really oversized would fit. The other outside compartment is flat and unpadded, and I imagine that it's intended for a scorebook , pencils, and a couple of small odds and ends. My intention was to carry a clock in a separate bag. I find, though, that I can actually fit my Chronos GX clock with touch sensors in it (it's a bit too tight a fit for my Chronos II with buttons). There is room to put in a scorebook and pencils, wrap my GX in a bit of thing bubble wrap, and put it on top. Then I have everything in one bag.
I might suggest two improvements: replace the flat pouch with a padded compartment that has more room, and add two D-rings at the top corners in case someone wants to use a shoulder strap. But the bag is quite good the way it is, well made, and less expensive than many equivalent bags. And the 18 inch size is just right for me.
