About The 3 7/8" German Staunton Chessmen - Ebonized

A fantastic set for all levels of play from starting out to experts. This "German" design is a timeless representation of simplicity. It has sold in the many 10's of thousands and remains to be a set of choice for the home and all kinds of casual chess play. With no sharp points to break, it can withstand years of chess play or study and if pieces are ever lost we make it easy to replace.

The style is also seen in the DGT Timeless pieces used on the E-Board line and which has seen competitive play at the highest levels.

Compliment 2" to 2.25" squares chess board or the one(s) play-tested shown, they look great on the 21" Sheesham Chess Board with 2" squares as shown. If you want a more economical option, the 19" Board with coordinates and 2" square is also a good fit.

Beautiful, N's in particular I like

Wonderful quality as always. Great customer service. This is my second set from Chesshouse. By the way there was a problem with the quality of two pieces with my first order, and they made that right fast! No problems with this set, and the knights in particular are I think strikingly beautiful. A joy to play with and a nice contrast with my traditional Staunton set.

A very nice set of chess pieces.

This set of chess pieces are very nice. I like the design, size, shape, weight and ballance of the pieces. And I liked the fact that the seller provided detailed dimensions of the pieces, including base diameters, up front, in his description. My only complaint is the "carving" of each knight - the right side and the left side of the horse's face is not identical. Each of the 4 knights have this asymetry. The right side of each knight looks much better to me.

I am currently building a chess board to fit these pieces, and it will also fit another set of pieces that I own, of a different design, but of similar size.

Nice Set, lacks a tiny amount of attention to detail but over all great to play with.

Magnificent

I got this for my dad who's a proper chess whizz. Staunton pieces are his favourite style. Each piece is beautifully carved and weighted, the size is just right and just now Dad walked past me and said "It's the finest thing I've ever seen". So there you go!

Also friendly correspondence from staff.
I had to have a few goes in check out which kept stuffing up. After about 8 tries on different devices, the order went through.
Apart from that trouble, the product is just beautiful.
