About The Solid Wooden Chess Set for the Blind and Visually Impaired - 3.75" King in Sheeshamwood and Boxwood

Designed specially for blind players, the board has raised squares and pieces that work well for the blind or those with very limited vision. The 16" square chess board with 1.8" squares and large 3.75" Staunton model pieces make it very tactile. The pieces stay in place well with pegs on the base of each piece that fit all 64 squares and keep the pieces steady.

To differentiate the dark pieces from the light pieces, the dark pieces are equipped with small points, both subtle yet instantly and easily distinguished from the light pieces.

What a beautiful chess set!

My father has always loved chess. He lost his vision and we thought his chess days were done. I was so happy to find the chess house. I purchased the best chess for the blind set and Dad is playing again! Thank you Chess House!

Best brail chess set!

I am absolutely in love with this chess set! The pieces have a great feel to them and it’s easy to distinguish between the black and white pieces. My wife is also a fan of the set’s appearance and quality, so much so that she wants to display it. I’ve had other braille chess sets in the past, but some had oddly shaped pieces that made it difficult to tell a king from a queen. Others had wobbly pieces that were easily knocked over. This set, however, addresses all those concerns. My only complaint is that the pieces were delivered in plastic bags instead of a wooden box.

The Best Accessible Chess Set

I've been getting back into chess and wanted a good chess set that was accessible (I'm totally blind) but also looked good. So many of the other accessible chess sets out there don't use the actual Staunton pieces.

This arrived today and I just love it! The board and pieces are so well-made and the pieces fit very well into the holes. I so appreciate ChessHouse making this board available.

best chess set for the blind

A well made chess set of staunton design as a show piece and to play on. Others have been disappointing, but this one tops them all.Players who have gotten used to the 8 or 10 or even 12-inch boards may find this 16-inch board a bit large, but I like it because there is no crowding of pieces. This is a tournament sized board and set of men, both well crafted. This is what blind players have been looking for for a long time.
