As I was looking to upgrade my chess set, I ended up buying the 21" Hardwood Player's Chessboard with 2.25" Squares JLP, USA. I selected this board because I like the simple but elegant style (Walnut and Maple, and these borders), and because I was looking for a massive hardwood chess board (my own veneer board, to which I am attached because my dad taught me to play chess on it, was unfortunately peeling off).
I am very happy with my purchase. The board is beautiful--the surface is matte (easy on the eyes), the squares are well-aligned, and the finishing looks perfect to me. And it's awesomely massive (heavy). I also liked that I was able to pay the Import Duty and VAT up-front, during check-out, during shipping selection. This way I knew exactly how much the board was going to cost me, so I wouldn't be surprised by a higher-than-expect FedEx invoice some weeks after my purchase (which has been known to happen when ordering abroad--in fact importing goods into the country).
Unfortunately, there was some damage on the side of the board, most likely caused during shipping. I didn't want to ship it back half-way across the globe, so Chess House made me a very generous discount offer. Then, on my request, Chess House arranged for me with FedEx a refund on the Import Duty and VAT (due to the lower value of the imported goods). All in all, I felt Chess House took good care of me--they were extremely polite, professional, patient, and generous. If I lived in the USA, I would definitely return to Chess House for future purchases.
P.S. For reference for future buyers, the pictures show the board with a 3.5" Staunton Europe chess set (not included).
