I love the look of the board. The wood itself is beautiful. Unfortunately mine came with a poor finish on it. It has bubbles in it and tiny pieces of plastic embedded in it. I'm working with chess house to try and get one that is finished properly.
The board I received had dark squares which I can only describe as "silver/grey with a purple hue", rather than the pale brown displayed in the stock photos.
In isolation, I'm not a huge fan of the colour, but with ebony/boxwood pieces, it looks fantastic and the muted tones draw visual attention to the pieces and the position, which I find particularly easy to play on.
This board is both beautiful and durable. The sealant on the wood is shiny, and feels smooth and thick. The larger squares fit bigger chess pieces nicely. The wood has just a hint of a soft, green color with a bit of gray.
