3 5/8" Ultimate Style Wooden Chess Pieces - Ebonized

It took me nearly 5 years to finally purchase this set. I am a fan of the plastic Ultimate Chess Pieces with exception to the Knights. However I'm more of a fan of the original UPC set where it was 3.625". 3.5 to 3.625 inch sets are my favorite size for a chess set. So needless to say that this set fits my preference. The wooden version is exactly the same as the plastic version but the snout of the Knights seemed a bit bigger than the plastic version. I think that is an improvement of the Knights to where they look better. The pieces are extremely well weighted and have a nice lacquered finish. The carrying case is nice but wished it was big enough to accommodate a frameless 18 inch board with 2.25" squares inside the case. This was well worth the purchase. This set will definitely fit the bill for club, tournament, and casual play along with a great set for display on a fine wooden board.

I frequently play using the plastic ultimate style chess pieces and having like their size and weight, I thought it would be nice to own a set made from wood. I purchased a set made from Anjanwood and I am extremely pleased with them. The pieces look and feel great. The only problem I had was that upon inspecting each individual piece when the set arrived... which I wish to add was within a very reasonable time from date of order to received date, was that one queen of each color was chipped along the crown. I contacted Chess House, explained the problem and was informed that new queens would be promptly shipped out to me. The replacement queens were received within several days. I wish to thank the Chess House for it's great customer service and the quality products it offers. I have order before from the Chess House and shall continue to do so in the future.
