It is sturdy and fits a big board (the gorgeous 21.5" Queen's Gambit Chess Board, for instance). The two chesspiece pockets do hold the complete 3-3/4" set of pieces with extra queen, and upper pocket fits two standard chess notation pads. But...
The bottom of the bag is not padded! Only the sides are! This is a very serious shortcoming indeed. When you carry a valuable, heavy board in the bag, you cannot even gently drop it on the ground. I hate that. Next, the bag, while sturdy, does not maintain its shape while empty. This makes loading the bag a cumbersome affair. You can't just flip open the top and slide your board in—you have to physically hold the bag up and struggle with the other hand to hold the top flap open while simultaneously trying to slide your board in. Thirdly, there is no pocket for your chess clock! It could so easily have had one. C'mon Chess House, just move the notepad pocket off to the side a bit and bingo!-- there'd be all the room in the world for another pocket for the clock. Lastly, I don't like the flimsy carry straps. A thicker more comfortable handle could so easily have been provided instead. Oh, and there's no shoulder strap to simply swing this thing over your shoulder and carry it across your back. I wish there was. That's it. That's all I have to say about this bag.
